Fake meat works magic in this recipe for empanadas so that no one would know they are vegetarian. Keep it simple with puff pastry or make your own empanada dough, either way they are are delicious. They freeze well too.

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 4 onions
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon oregano
- 1 package vegetarian ground beef
- 1 tablespoon Tomato paste
Empanada Dough or Tnuva Maadanot Pastry Dough, defrosted
1 In frying pan, heat oil with paprika and saute onions until soft. Add chili powder, oregano, and salt. Add fake meat and mix with onions. Add tomato paste and cook until hot.
2 Place a spoonful of stuffing on half of each dough circle. Fold dough over filling. Wet the edge with milk, fold over again and seal. Bake in a 200°C/400°F oven until cooked and lightly browned.
