Fried Rugelach

Rugelach are the most popular pastry in Israel and for good reason. When you want to really indulge try deep frying them, OMG.

Ingredients

  • 12 chocolate or cinnamon rugelach

  • 1 recipe funnel cake batter, or your favorite pancake mix

  •  Confectioners’ sugar, for serving

  •  Extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil, for frying

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

Preparation

1.In a large frying pan or Dutch oven, heat coconut oil on medium-high  until it reaches 350°F with a candy thermometer.

2.Dip rugelach into funnel cake batter, coating evenly.

3. Deep fry for 3 minutes. Turn over, and fry on the other side for 2 minutes, or until golden brown on all sides. Place on paper towel-lined plate to drain. Dust with powdered sugar.

4.In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt and maple syrup to create a dipping sauce for rugelach. Serve immediately.
