I’m Elana – an entrepreneur, wife and Jewish mother living in Boulder, Colorado. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 1998 and right away went on the gluten-free diet. With numerous symptoms and health issues remaining, in 2001 I realized that the gluten-free diet wasn’t enough, and I went completely grain-free, which was considered somewhat radical at the time. I was questioned by friends, family and medical professionals for this unique choice. But listening to my own body, I knew it was the right thing for me. In 2006, to help others feeling isolated by their dietary and health issues, I started elanaspantry.com where I share my simple, healthy recipes and tips for good living. Now 700 recipes and three cookbooks later, the grain-free diet has made it into the mainstream.
