My husband is also a chef and specializes in gorgeous French pastries. But, when we entertain at home, and we entertain often, we prefer simple, big flavored, non-fussy desserts. This galette is a great make-ahead dessert that allows the cook to enjoy time with friends and family.

I wait all season for the tart cherries. They are brightly flavored and taste like …a cherry! The sweeter cherries just don’t have the oomph that the tart variety does. While not great for eating out of hand, tart cherries are amazing and complex in baked items and in ice cream and jams.


Apple Galette

After a week in Paris, I was very excited to get back to my kitchen and try new recipes. For this dessert, I was inspired by a delicious apple turnover I had on my vacation but wanted to turn it into some sort of pie. I used puff pastry dough and made almond frangipane. Easy, simple and delicious. Specially for this warm weather, I can’t wait to have it with an iced latte!
