Recipe

Veggie Bacon and American Grilled Cheese

I love Morning Star fake bacon! Once upon a time when I was on weight watchers,I discovered that two strips was only 1 point! I felt that I had to incorporate these yummy strips into one of my grilled cheese creations.

Times

  • Prep Time : 5 min
  • Cook Time : 5 min
  • Ready Time : 10 min

Servings

1

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces of rye bread, everything style
  • 1/2 ripe, beef steak tomato, sliced
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 2 garlic gloves, diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

Lay out your rye bread. Set the oven to broil. Microwave your two fake bacon strips for 30 seconds.
Place both cheese slices on one slice of bread, next to each other not one on top of the other. Lay tomato slices over cheese, followed by fake bacon strips. Sprinkle diced garlic and salt over strips, close the sandwich and broil for 4 minutes. Flip sandwich and broil for another 1-2 minutes.  Make sure and check that your bread does not over brown and burn.

For me it’s not about mimicking non kosher food. I have never had meat and milk together. I happen to love all thinga Morning Star. The burgers, nuggets, faux sausage and veggie bacon. It happens to taste great with cheese, too.
