Poached Pears with Bay Leaf

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe USA Pears (Anjou or Bosc) pears, peeled
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • Fresh bay leaf to garnish

Preparation

Preparation

1 Combine orange juice, water, brown sugar, bay leaves and nutmeg in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring well to mix. Add pears. Cook over high heat to boil.

2 Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Discard bay leaves. Serve Anjou pears with juice in individual bowls. Garnish with bay leaves.
