My Mother’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

baking chocolate chip cookies with my mother is one of my fondest memories. She never used a mixer. She mixed the dough in an extra large Tupperware bowl with her handy dandy wooden spoon. I would love making the cookies with her.

  • Prep Time : 15 min
  • Cook Time : 10 min
  • Ready Time : 25 min

  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 1- 1lbs box light brown sugar
  • 3 cups shortening
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 tsp vanilla
  • 7 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking soda
  • 2 bags chocolate chips

Mix first 3 ingredients until smooth. Slowly add the eggs and vanilla, mix until creamy. In separate bowl mix the dry ingredients together and add them slowly to the egg mixture. Mix well- add the chocolate chips.

Place dough on ungreased cookie sheet in preheated 375 degree oven for about 10 minutes until golden brown –let cool and enjoy with a yummy glass of skim milk.

About Linda Lebovic

After many years of staying home with my 4 kids- I decided it was time to expand my horizons. The only paying job I have had in the past 23 years was as a gymnastics teacher 6 hours a week, and that was 18 years ago!!! Being that my youngest is 18-I decided a few years ago-it was time for me to leave the nest, considering my kids were in school full time. I knew a desk job was not for me - and I was not up to date on the latest safety precautions for gymnastic. So I needed to figure out what I wanted to do, and that was the beginning of SWIRL. Swirl is a woman owned small business. I handcraft and design beautiful and top quality serving utensils, glassware and giftware. Swirl sells both in the retail market as well as wholesale.
