Mushroom Onion Braid
This is a great recipe for picnics or any other to-go meal. You don\'t need to wash, it\'s portable, and good cold!

Servings
Ingredients
- 1 box puff pastry 17.25 oz
- 3 tablespoons butter melted
- 1 onion sliced
- 8 cups mushrooms sliced
- 2 tablespoons basil finely chopped
- 1 box cream cheese 8 oz
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1 egg white
Directions
1. Sautee the onions and mushrooms in butter, about 6 minutes. Season with basil, salt, and pepper, and stir in the cream cheese until melted.
2. Spoon the mixture into the middle of your unfolded puff pastry and slit the edges diagonally into the middle. Fold each piece over, alternating to make a braid. Watch here for more details: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd3PMaMt4j4 (You Tube: Braiding Puff Pastry)
3. Brush with egg white.
If you want, you can just skip the braiding process and fold over like an envelope. I won’t tell, promise! Just slit the top to vent the air.
Bake at 350 until golden, about 25-40 minutes depending on your puff pastry.
