Matzah Brei Mac ‘n Cheese

The Passover holiday is quickly approaching…more quickly than I realized! Because it falls out earlier in the season this year, I am hussling to prepare my house, shopping for non-chametz foods and of course, adding some tasty recipes to my repertoire. It is tough to stem away from bland matzah, matzah, matzah and more matzah. This is a tasty twist on the matzo flavor.

  • Prep Time : 10 min
  • Cook Time : 30 min
  • Ready Time : 40 min

  • 3 cups matzo farfel
  • 1/2 pound cheddar cheese 8 oz
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups lowfat milk
  • 1 1/2 cups Temp Tee Whipped Cream Cheese

1. Mix all ingredients together.
2. Put in 2 qt. casserole.
3. Cover and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
4. Uncover and bake 15 minutes longer or until brown.

Made this for Passover last year. My kids are already requesting it again. They LOVED it, ate it almosr every day. (I made a few pans). GREAT kid friendly recipe…and much less whining about “nothing good to eat for Pesach”.

Oh wow! This was amazing! I used a combination of cheddar, mozzarella and Philadelphia cream cheese (didn’t have Temp Tee) and it tasted nothing like mac and cheese, but like a cheese tart or something like that. If you are a cheese lover like me you will love it!

  5. Any idea of the definition of brei?
    Origin of Matzah brei?

I found this recipe two years ago on Joyofkosher.com. I have made it twice already. It is sooo good. I am making it again this year. My husband and I really liked it. It tastes just like macaroni and cheese. This recipe gets 5 stars from me.
