Ingredients
- 6 cups apple juice
- 4 2-inch long strips orange zest
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 cinnamon sticks, plus additional for garnish
- 10 whole allspice berries
- 10 whole cloves
- 8 black peppercorns
- 3 whole star anise
- 6 ounce whiskey (optional)
Directions
In a medium sauce pan, combine apple juice, zest, sugar and all the spices. Simmer over medium low heat for 15 minutes, skimming any foam that accumulates on top. Strain and stir in whiskey if using for an adult version. Divide between 6 mugs and garnish with cinnamon stick stirrers.
