Ingredients

  • 1/2 head shredded green cabbage 1/2
  • 1/4 head shredded purple cabbage 1/4
  • 2 large carrots, shredded 2
  • 2 Tbsp minced onion 30 mL
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar 60 mL
  • 1/2 tsp salt 2 mL
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper 1 mL
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed 2 mL
  • 1/4 cup milk 60 mL
  • 1/2 cup canola mayonnaise 125 mL
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk* 60 mL
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp white wine vinegar 22 mL
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice 37 mL

Preparation

1 Combine cabbage, carrots and onion in a large bowl.

2 In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, salt, pepper, celery seed, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar and lemon juice; mix until smooth.

3 Pour mixture over the coleslaw; stir well and chill for 1 hour.
