chocolate crusted chocolate cake

One bowl, no mixer and by far the best chocolate cake ever....


  • Prep Time : 10 min
  • Cook Time : 45 min
  • Ready Time : 55 min



  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • baking chocolate i use 200 grams, coarsly chopped


Preheat oven to 350 f/155 c.
Spray pan of choice with cooking spray.
With a whisk, mix together all dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Add all wet ingredients and mix to combine.
Add half of the chopped chocolate and mix again.
Pour into prepared pan and sprinkle remaining chocolate over the top.
Bake about 45 minutes (more or less depending on the pan you choose) or til a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

    forgot to mention in the instructions to dissolve the instant coffee in the 1/2 cup hot water…

      Can I lower the sugar without messing out the recipe? Two cups sound like so much!

    Is the baking chocolate necessary or I could make the cake using just cocoa powder?

    you can, butit wont be as deep a flavor, it would be more like a basic chocolate cake
