Basmati Rice

A great rice for Indian dishes or any time.


  • Prep Time : 15 minutes min
  • Cook Time : 20 minutes min
  • Ready Time : 35 min




  • 2 cups dried Basmati rice
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 31/3 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon salt


1 Rinse the rice in cold water. Drain well.
2 Heat heavy 2 quart saucpan and add oil. Add rice and and cook stirring for 2 minutes . Stir in water and salt and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and cook covered about 2o minutes, when rice is tender and water has been absorbed.
3 Remove from heat, let stand 5 minutes, then remove cover and fluff with fork.
