Recipe

Alberto Martini

A summertime variation on the martini, this preparation for the Alberto Martini combines the sweetness of vermouth and the Cointreau and is balanced out by the dryness of the gin and the sherry’s salty assertiveness.

Times

  • Prep Time : 5 min
  • Ready Time : 5 min

Servings

1+

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ shot of gin
  • 1 ¼ shot of dry vermouth (again, Kedem)
  • 1 shot of Tio Pepe fino Sherry (they make a kosher Tio Pepe)
  • ½ shot of Cointreau

Directions

Stir everything together in a shaker with ice (DO NOT follow James Bond’s instructions!), and strain into a chilled martini glass. The sweetness from the vermouth and the Cointreau balance out the dryness of the gin and the sherry’s salty assertiveness.

  1. Nice spin on a martini. Haven’t had one in ages.

  2. The idea behind each of the cocktails I researched for this article is that they are bright and refreshing but still have some complexity to make things interesting.
