Apple Pear Crunch

Ingredients

  • 4 apples, peeled if desired, sliced by hand or in the food processor
  • 4 pears, peeled if desired, sliced by hand or in the food processor
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1½ cup rolled oats
  • ⅓ cup sesame seeds
  • ⅓ cup sunflower seeds
  • ⅓ cup raisins
  • ⅓ cup coarsely chopped nuts (walnuts or peanuts work well)
  • ⅓ cup olive oil
  • ⅓ cup honey or pure maple syrup or agave nectar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9- x 13-inch baking pan or 12 (4-inch) ramekins. In a large bowl, combine apples and pears with cinnamon, 1 pinch salt, and lemon juice. Spread in a 9- x 13-inch baking pan, or portion into prepared ramekins. Prepare crumble: In a bowl, combine oats, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, raisins, nuts, salt, oil, and honey. Sprinkle crumble on top of fruit. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until lightly browned.
