About Tamar Genger MA, RD

Tamar lives in New York and is the mother of three amazing children, a Registered Dietitian, professor of Nutrition, and as you can probably guess, a foodie! Tamar loves to travel with her family and visits kosher restaurants wherever she goes. Although she loves the sights, she spends more time talking about the restaurants and food she ate! • Harsher Koach on your success with joyofkosher. After the birth of my last child, my 4th c-section, I became very ill. Seeing that I lived 2 blocks from LIJ HOSPITAL, I had a terrible pain in my stomach. This was on a Friday night. One of our neighbors watched my children so I could walk to the Emergency Room. After numerous tests, I was diagnosed with CROHN'S DISEASE. I was on high doses of Prednisone as well as Azulfadine for 2 years, until I begged my Dr. to wean me off. I have been living with this abdominal pains for 25 years. I know I am lactose intolerant and I did take the H PYLORIE test, which came back negative. At one point, my weight went down to 72 lbs. and I was hospitalized for 6 weeks. I left the hospital with a SHUNT and an IV pole, which I daily used HEPARIN and TPN for food. Present day, I am still in terrible pain and was diagnosed with IBS, along with the CROHN'S. I am a petite woman and always wore a size 4, BUT, about a year ago my stomach became distended and all bloated in a manner of one week! So, I thought I should go on a CELIAC diet, with no results. I saw you are an RD and maybe you might have some suggestions for me. I also want to add, that I am ANOREXIC, I DO NOT eat, but I do drink, (nothing carbonated). My Gastroenteralogist is puzzled and suggest I see another Gastro. Would you have any ideas on how to lose this distended stomach? Just bear in mind, I've been anorexic for over 30 years. I would love to hear from you. Have a Good Shabbos & a Freilicha Purim! Judi Sobol H: # (718) 263-7998 C: # (845) 558-0182 E-MAIL: [email protected] I hope to hear from you!

  • FYI. when one takes Challah from the dough it must be wrapped and baked separately; not in the same oven as the challah or any other food. Check with your local competent Rov.

  • Hi I couldn't help but notice that your favorite city is PARIS and you are clearly a foodie we are planning a trip to Paris in February - and would love specific kosher restaurant recommendations and especially if there is a place to stay that is near a nice place that opens early for breakfast - that would be awesome I'd so appreciate any guidance - geula [email protected]

  • How do I post a photo? I submitted the marmalade spice honey cake photo. But I hasn't gone up. The one currently up (which isn't my photo) looks a tad burnt. Thanks.
