Maple Cinnamon Poached Pears

When I think of healthy desserts, the first thing that comes to mind is fruit. Yes, fruit is filled with sugar, but it’s all natural. Plus, fruit is filled with plenty of other vitamins that are really good for you. If you are going to satisfy your sweet tooth, this is the way to do it! I have included recipes for all levels of baking experience.

Strawberry Banana Ice Pops

The strawberry banana ice pops are a no cook/no bake recipe. Just blend the ingredients together, freeze in ice pop molds and enjoy. If you don’t have pop molds, you can also use small cups. Simply cover each cup with a piece of foil and stick a popsicle stick down the center. The foil will keep the stick in place while freezing. This dessert is refreshing, sweet, and all natural. They are a great treat for the kids to eat during the warm summer months.

Maple Cinnamon Poached Pears

My maple cinnamon poached pears are a perfect and simple way to end any big meal. They look elegant and are a great, light way to satisfy your sweet tooth. They can be served warm, chilled, or at room temperature. I recommend reducing the poaching liquid to create a quick and sweet sauce to compliment the pears. The pears are excellent on their own, but they would also be delicious served over ice cream, topped with whipped cream, yogurt, or granola.

Lemon Blueberry Oat Muffins

I wanted to include a baked dessert as well, and what is better than a blueberry muffin. These can be served for dessert or breakfast with a cup of coffee or tea. My lemon blueberry oat muffins are a lightened up version of your traditional breakfast muffin. They are low in sugar, but high in fiber, texture, and flavor. The cinnamon gives these muffins a warm flavor, the lemon adds some zest and freshness, and the blueberries add a burst of sweetness.
