Red Star Yeast recently launched a revolutionary yeast for the home baker called Platinum Superior Baking Yeast.  Red Star says that this new yeast makes baking professional bread at home a cinch.  Your home baked bread will be lighter and rise more than any you have made before.  They say, it is particularly effective in whole grain and sweet breads, producing airy and large volume breads.

Many of us make challah weekly or at least regularly and this yeast should make your results even better.  Especially when you add whole wheat flour. I tested it out for you on my go-to, regular challah recipe where I use 50% whole wheat flour and the results were very good. Next, I would like to try it with 100% whole wheat flour.  Stay tuned in the comments on this article where I will report back.  I hope any of you that have tried this yeast will comment below with your results.

    i have not been happy w/ baking results when i add some white whole wheat or whole wheat to my bread flour. i would be happy to try this new product by red star.

  35. I would try the Platinum Superior Baking Yeast in the mixed wheat egg challah recipe. I use whole wheat mixed with white wheat for most baking recipes.
