There’s something about the Thanksgiving season that stimulates a reflex: we start to enumerate our blessings. I have an incredible list of personal thanks to G-d for all that I have. And as I write to you now, I feel so thankful for the JoK family we have built here together. Every person who visits this site deserves credit for building this family. As in every family, each person is different, each has a different voice. Every recipe and every comment you bring makes us stronger, for you offer your unique perspective, opinion, kitchen tip or words of encouragement. With G-d’s help, we have created this kosher cooking kitchen universe together and I am so appreciative.

It’s important that this virtual kitchen we’ve built together has all the bells and whistles of your dream kitchen, and that requires solid communication lines. So for your last chance to win a free turkey let us know in the comments below what you want to see more of, what you like, what you want, what you wish we had, what you’d like us to feature. The sky is the limit, my friends. Give us your ideas about the site’s functionality, recipes, topics we cover… anything that you want to see on JoK.com in the coming year, anything you want us to expand. We are here and we hear you. Please also add a note to let us know if you have bought my latest book, Quick & Kosher Meals in Minutes, and/or subscribed to “Joy of Kosher” magazine. Please be assured that our winners are picked at random and purchase is absolutely NOT required to be eligible to win. It just makes us feel good to know that you want to support this enterprise, and we hope it will encourage others to support us as well.

Here’s why. You know we don’t charge anything for our website. For the almost 5,000 recipes you see posted here (and we try to grow it each day for you so that when you search, you NEVER want for a recipe, and you can find one that suits your needs perfectly.) When you buy our magazines and books, you are telling us that you appreciate what we do and you want to help keep it going!

With Chanukah just around the corner, this is the perfect time to give a special cooking gift to someone you love. Buy a subscription to the magazine for yourself or for someone that you know will just love you for it! Right now, a one year subscription is only $18 (Chai!) The regular price is $24, so that’s 25% off! And there’s a Chanukah sale on my latest book, Quick & Kosher Meals in Minutes. It’s now only $18 (regularly $34.99 – that’s almost 50% off) and that includes FREE shipping anywhere in the US. These are great as Chanukah gifts, hostess gifts, bridal and wedding shower gifts, teacher gifts, welcome to the neighborhood gifts, etc. Stock up now – while these sales are going on. You can give them out all year long. Purchasing our books and magazine lets us know you enjoy what we are doing and helps us continue.

So thank you for being you! Thanks for coming to the site, for taking the time to write how we can better serve you, and for joining us at our table. Tamar, Hadassah and I are thankful for you this Thanksgiving as we are every day, because without you, we wouldn’t be here. We’d be talking to ourselves, we’d be cooking alone. We love the family that you have created with us and we look forward to sharing even more with you in the future.

WIN A TURKEY!! We’ve been giving away turkeys all week – this is your last chance to win! If you want to win an Empire turkey for your Thanksgiving Feast, let us know in the comments what you want to see more of here on JoK.com, what you like, what you want , what you wish we had, what you’d like us to feature.  If you own one of my cookbooks or are subscribed to the magazine, let us know too in the comments! I love the Parsha themed Shabbos menus. My kids really enjoyed the rainbow cake for Parshas Noach. Can you think of more cakes/desserts each week for the parsha?

  2. avatar says: realaud

I think JoK is perfect just the way it is. Can’t think of what I would want added

  3. avatar says: skossman

I would like to see more pareve desserts. Also more recipes that have more common ingredients that I’m likely to already have in my house.

I love JoK, but I do have a very important recommendation, one that will improve my experience immensely if it is implemented.

My request is to improve the search feature. At this point, it is almost worthless – if I search, for example, for guacamole, nothing comes up! But I KNOW there is at least one recipe, and probably more ( http://www.joyofkosher.com/recipe/guacamole-and-chips/ for one). I have discussed this with friends who are starting to cook – I recommend this site over AllRecipes.com since it is kosher, but not for someone who is looking for a specific dish. What about powering the search using Google?

Beyond that, I really enjoy the site! I’m subscribed to JoK on Google Reader, so if I need to, I can search there.

Thank you! Keep up the good work!

I definitely enjoy all of the recipe ideas for a great Shabbat menu. Many of us get tired with the same foodseach and every week. I have enjoyed the basic and easy recipes from your first cook book as well. My Channukah gift from my husband this year ia a subscription to the magazine. I can’t wait!

  6. I wouldn’t change a thing! I absolutley love this site! Keep up the great work!

i have a subscription to the print magazine which i enjoy sitting with on Shabbat. I also pass it on to my grown daughter when i finish. i wish i had more time to sit in front of the computer and look at the website. i enjoy the daily emails. i get a kick out of the contests and try to win a few. keep up the good work. i wish you had a cooking show on tv that showed here in los angeles.

  8. There are so many things at JoK that are such a blessing: the menus, the holiday guides, the great recipes, the community and the giveaways, to name my favorites. If I were to add one thing – and it would be a huge undertaking – it would be nutritional information to go with the recipes. I do not yet have your book or a magazine subscription, but they’re on my wish list!

  9. I’d have to agree with maybe tweaking the search function, but otherwise JoK is perfect!

  10. I am enjoying the site as it is. Have not purchased the book yet.

  11. avatar says: strandjss

There is so much I love about JoK. I love that I have a kosher resource/community and don’t feel so alone in my kosher eating endeavors. I love the Parsha themed menus and all of the great recipes that are offered. And I do love the giveaways. I’m not sure if there is anything I would like to add. The site is evolving and improving all the time and I am thoroughly satisfied. If I do think of something, I will post again. Thanks

  12. This is a great website and resource for the kosher cook. Thank you! I would appreciate more tips and recipes that convert dairy classics (i.e. key lime pie, frostings) into pareve concoctions. Is soymilk the only alternative? Also, kosher versions of non-kosher specialties.

  13. I agree that the search function could use some tweaking. Other than that I can’t think of a single thing that I would change.

  14. I would love to see some super healthy recipes with whole grains only and perhaps some Splenda sweetened desserts. I really love the website and have a great time looking up new and exciting things to cook. I just purchased your new book (love taking advantage of sales LOL) and after I kept buying JoK magazine I decided to subscribe starting with the Chanukah issue.

  15. I own both books, which I love! I’d love to see more recipes for crockpots that we can eat for Shabbos lunch. While chulent is a classic- its fun to switch it up a bit!

  16. I enjoy using this site very much. The recipes are innovative and contemporary and a tremendous resource for me. I would like to see more healthful recipes especially low sugar and low fat. The love of my life has Type 1 Diabetes and I decalorize many recipes to keep him healthy.
I won a copy of f Quick and Kosher Meals In Minutes and highly recommend this book to all. The recipes are delicious and the commentary by Jamie is seasoned with her superb sense of humor…
To all a wish a safe and joyous Thanksgiving. I am thankful for all of the blessings that I have been given.

Having just found this website a month or so ago I’m still learning about all the features. I have the Quick and Kosher cookbook – it sits displayed proudly with a handful of my favorite/go-to cookbooks! One thing I would like to see is more organic recipes, but I usually make changes to accommodate that myself as it is. I’m so glad to have found your website and am still crossing fingers for that Tom ;) mrscoxblog{at}gmail{dot}com

  18. I love the holiday guides and the parsha menus every week. I would also love to see more Shabbos lunch specific posts, crockpot or otherwise.

  19. avatar says: susqhb

Post new Quick and Kosher style recipes. We own both editions and are slightly obsessed. Can use some more easy yet tasty recipes to work with.

  20. I love Joy of Kosher, and I just ordered your new book. I would like to continue seeing the parsha-of-the-week recipes as well as all of the other great food ideas. I am especially interested in recipes that use common ingredients that can be found in my local grocery store. Our nearest kosher grocery store is 100 miles away. (Thankfully, more and more kosher products are reaching our local grocery stores, but there are many items we still can’t get here.)Thank you for all you do!

  21. I love your pictures and articles! They really are great! I would love to see more recipes and videos for the slow cooker! Thank you!

  22. We would find it beneficial to have more gluten-free recipes.

  23. avatar says: kath999

I agree with charles999–more gluten-free (or adaptations) would be great. Thanks.

  24. avatar says: Sarah D.

i own kosher by design. and love it. we have allergies in our house and i find the recipes fairly easy to adapt… i just found your web page and look forward to going through all the recipes and adding to my collection… oh and the allergies are soy dairy and gluten….

  25. avatar says: anyang

Nutritional info for the recipes would be wonderful.

  26. I love your recipes they are very good but simple and easy to follow.

I would like to see the Nutritional info as well I think that is very important when you have some dietary retrictions.

    Keep the recipes coming!

  27. avatar says: skkorman

I like it just the way it is but the giveaways are a lot of fun, so I would like to see more of them!

  28. I have a subscription to the magazine and the Quick & Kosher Cookbook (one of my all-time favorite). I think nutritional info could be really cool, but I understand that can be difficult. I love everything else about the site, especially the contests :)

  29. avatar says: Ma Motts

love the theme meals, think also search needs work….maybe answer more questions and love giveaways. nutritional info would be heaven too

  30. avatar says: Lexiquin

I’m relatively new here and, so far, like everything I’ve seen. I’ve learned alot, found delicious recipes, and opportunities to win. Thanks!

  31. i love the site, and would love to see more crockpot recipes

  32. avatar says: ljeana

I really wish for a section of ideas on new ways to organize a kosher kitchen. When I lost my home I was lucky enough to be asked to share a friend’s home and help with kashering the kitchen. But it is a 1940′s itsy bitsy kitchen and hard to always know how to keep everything from being on top of the wrong side etc. I figure I canNOT be the only one with this problem, and there have to be ideas out there! It would be super to find some of them in here to at least think about even if they wouldn’t work. Thanks for the lovely magazine for when I have time to read. ;D

  33. avatar says: zahavaf

I love your site! The only thing I would change would be to add more content, particularly about serving, presentation, and entertaining. Otherwise, thanks for a wonderful website!

  34. avatar says: mink

I love the recipes – It’s so nice not to have to worry about making it kosher. My only request is that recipes already in my box get labelled.

  35. avatar says: Susan

I would like to see a kosher breakfast sausage recipe and a recipe for imitation crab meat to use in a salad or sandwich.

  36. I’ve only started using this website two weeks ago, and already it has been a valuable resource. I am considering subscribing because the content is so wonderful. I find recipes that are quick (like the one pan dinners) to be wonderful, as I am a working mother and need quick, healthy, tasty, kosher meal ideas for mid-week. I would love to see more of these!

  37. avatar says: Mikki

I love Joy Of Kosher. The recipes are mostly easy and definitely delish. Keep up the good work.

  38. avatar says: ohyoucook

Your site is divine! I’m always on the lookout for chicken recipes, so that would be my only suggestion.

  39. avatar says: fbogus

Oddly enough, my problem is with the website itself, not the content. I find that this site takes unusually long to load, regardless of which computer I use. Some of the pull-down menus also seem to have a balky response time.

  40. avatar says: krconroy

I am a little unusual in that I have some allergies and am always looking for recipes and foods I can eat comfortably. The reason I found Empire Kosher turkey is because they are known to be safe for those with gluten and corn intolerances, like myself. I would love to see more websites make recommendations to those that have issues with food sensitivities since they are real and affect more people than we think. Thanks!

  41. the parsha themes are adorable, i love the contests, and your magazine is beautiful!
i love love love love love JOK.

the only reason it’s not my default random recipe site (it is one of my default food sites) is that most of the recipes aren’t rated or reviewed so they’re a bit more of a risk. maybe they could be kitchen tested and commented on? (you said sky is the limit…)

ok, more practically, if you could do an ingredient/ingredient-i-don’t-want search, that would be phenomenal!
in general i think allrecipes.com has a very good prototype if you want so inspiration for practicality.

    again, thanks!

  42. avatar says: sdg729

I’d like to see more photos of the ACTUAL recipes listed instead of stock images.
Oh, and you can never have enough CHOCOLATE recipes ;)

  43. I think the content of the website is great and I’m glad i found it.

  44. avatar says: nurserae

I love this site, I just wish more people would add comments after trying a recipe. Thats one of Allrecipe’s biggest strengths. I have Meals in Minutes, the kids love the Beef and green bean stir fry.

  45. avatar says: tes283

I am all about being gluten-free. Just follow on the site not magazine.

    tes 1283 yahoo

  46. avatar says: ruthing73

I have really enjoyed using this site, which is excellent. I’m looking for a Kosher potato salad and can’t seem to locate it using the search feature. Thanks for the great recipes.

  47. I would love to see recipes and guidelines for converting non-kosher dishes to kosher. Frequently, when I search for “non-dairy desserts” for example, I get non-dairy, sugar free, gluten free, etc. I’m not looking to change my entire way of eating. But, sometimes, just substituting soymilk is not enough.

Along those same lines, conversions for Passover cooking and baking. Specifically, are there any recipes for spritz (cookie press) cookies for Passover?

  48. avatar says: skylajane

I’ve only recently subscribed to your newsletter and enjoy it very much. I love slow cooking so if I could add anything to your site, it would be more recipes that can be made in the crock pot. You can’t beat coming home after work to a hot meal that cooked itself!

  49. love your site and your recipes! the only thing I might suggest is more recipes including medjool dates… savory as well as sweet recipes… have a blessed thanksgiving!

  50. I would love to see more “finds” in terms of cookware and utensils and appliances. I love this site though and would not be disappointed if it stayed the same.

  51. avatar says: KAWAII

I love your recipes! Quick, easy to make, easy to find ingredients are appreciated!

  52. avatar says: Schmidty

I just love the site as-is. Fantastic content, always something interesting when I visit, easy to navigate and a good community feel.

  53. avatar says: Atreau

I love the site and love the recipes. I can’t think of anything that needs improvement. I don’t have any of your cookbooks yet.

  54. I love The Joy of Kosher! I would love to see more holiday cooking and perhaps some slow cooker recipes for the winter season. Thank you for the great website, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you!

  55. avatar says: ric234

Pictures on the site are great. Would like to see more video.

  56. avatar says: Wistroll

I would like to see cooking gadgets and videos on how to use them. Also a link for purchase.

  57. i would like more quick and easy desserts

  58. i love the site and your recipes. the photos are beautiful as well. i cant’ think of any improvements as i love it the way it is. i do not own one of your cookbooks but hope to get one this upcoming holiday!

  59. avatar says: costana

love the recipes, would love to see more

  60. I love everything here JoK.com thank you for the chance

  61. avatar says: gojudyg

I am always looking for good parve recipes. . .ones that my kids will eat (and nut free wouldn’t hurt either!). Thanks!

  62. avatar says: Penina

I would love to see your videos posted not through youtube as my internet filter blocks that site.

  63. avatar says: sjs

I love the site. Thank you! Maybe recipes or substitutes for people with food sensitivities, such as gluten, soy, etc.
