Introducing: Kosher Gluten-Free Flour Mixes!

A couple of months ago, we launched the Quick & Kosher Bites newsletter, a monthly roundup of my favorite supermarket picks and finds.  It’s a peak at products that are new, some exclusive to Kosher.com, favorites, and classics that I want to make sure you know about.

This month’s Baking Bites: King Arthur Gluten-Free Flour mixes.

King Arthur, my all-time favorite flour makers, and America’s oldest flour company, went Gluten-Free and won awards for these awesome mixes!  Wheat, soy and nut-free.

Long before I knew about Kosher.com, I used to shlep for an hour to stock up on King Arthur flour because it provides a noticeable difference in my famous Quick & Kosher chocolate chip cookies.  Well, ok, to be honest, they are my sister-in-law’s famous chocolate chip cookies, which her mother adapted from Norene Gilletz’s Second Helpings, Please! cookbook.

Now that Kosher.com is here, I don’t have to travel to get King Arthur into my kitchen.  Moreover, the company now has 7 gluten free mixes, including Gluten Free Bread Mix, Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix, Gluten Free Brownie Mix, Gluten Free Cookie Mix, Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix, Gluten Free Pancake Mix, and Gluten Free Muffin Mix.  Each one is so easy to bake and the results are delicious!

Behind the Scenes at King Arthur:

Many people are on gluten-free diets for at least one of the following serious health concerns: gluten allergy, wheat reaction, or celiac disease.  The following information is important to understand what sets apart King Arthur gluten-free products from others.

King Arthur Flour mixes are 100% Gluten Free.  All mixes are Certified Gluten-Free™ by the non-profit Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), a program of the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG®).  GFCO products are tested to be less than 10ppm (parts per million) gluten.  This is stricter than even the FDA requirements of less than 20ppm gluten.

The certified gluten-free mixes, and their manufacturing facility, are also free from the most common allergens: wheat, nuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, eggs, and dairy.  That being said, these mixes may require eggs and/or dairy, so look at their packaging to see what’s required to bake them.

And they’re prize-winners too … King Arthur gluten-free baking mixes were selected from among 200 entries as a sofi Silver Finalist, Outstanding Product Line, by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade.  The annual sofi awards recognize outstanding innovation in specialty foods.
